WAHM Success Story: An Interview with Carlie Kercheval
Today, I’m sharing yet another story of a work at home mom who has successfully made money online from the comfort of her own home.

Carlie Kercheval is a military wife and homeschooling mother of 3. She has built for herself a strong online presence, and does a tremendous job as blogger, author and speaker.

She manages a host of blogs and websites such as:

Carlie has an active speaking ministry with her husband through the Learning to Speak Life Radio Show, and they have also authored an eBook together titled, Learning to Speak Life: Fruit of the Spirit. Carlie has also contributed to a couple of other eBooks for bloggers and homeschoolers.

Now on to the interview! I had sent Carlie a list of questions, and here are her answers below.

Question: How did you first get started as a work at home mom?

It’s funny because I never intended to become a work-at-home mom, it actually happened by accident. I have always been the type of person that has to be creating something. From creating new recipes to writing songs, my brain doesn’t rest until it’s been able to create. So naturally when I became a stay-at-home mom over 13 years ago, I found myself creating an online business selling things on ebay.

It’s really quite funny because in a short amount of time I went from listing a few items we had around the house, to negotiating with large vendors in New York City for purchasing large quantities of name brand women’s and children’s clothing. And that was all by accident. Over the last 13+ years I have been working from home. It has only been the last couple of years that I have been making money as a blogger.

Question: How did you make your first dollar online?

As I explained a little above, I made my first money online as a seller on ebay. But it wasn’t until I started blogging that I realized how much I enjoy writing and am thankful to make a living doing it from home.

Question: What are the some of the ways you currently earn an online?

Right now I am earning a full-time income as a blogger and author. I own three successful blogs and have co-authored a book with my awesome husband. It is through these means that I am able to make real money online.

Question: How do you balance your family, home and work on a normal day?

Well since my family always comes first, our day always begins with prayer and then homeschool. I have been a homeschooling mom since the beginning and homeschool our three precious children (9th grade, 2nd grade, and 1st grade). After we are done with our homeschooling, we are off to 4-5 hours of activities.

It is during the afternoon while the children are at their various activities I get the time to do some work for my websites. I also work late at night after the children are asleep and I have been able to spend some quality time with my husband.

Question: What are some of the tools you use to make your life and your work easier?

I couldn’t function as well as I do without my life planner. Seriously. This has given me the tools I need to keep track of my daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly responsibilities. I use Erin Condren’s Life Planner; you can check it out here.

Question: What is one word of advice you’d like to pass on to other work at home moms?

Be you. Never strive to “keep up” with someone else. Be yourself and allow your own authentic voice to determine what opportunities you create for yourself and your family. It is so important in such a busy world that you take the time out to listen to your own thoughts guided by God’s wisdom. I am so grateful that I was raised to realize that there is only one me and only I can fulfill the purpose for which God has put me on this earth to walk out. You are beautiful and unique!

I loved hearing from Carlie about how she has made it as a successful work at home mom. I hope you will be able to implement some of her tips and suggestions in your own life as a WAHM.
